Imagine that you have just run a red light and smashed into a brand new Rolls Royce. The owner of the Rolls is severely injured and spends many months in hospital. When he has recovered he sues you for damages, pain and suffering, and loss of income while he was in hospital. (Don’t worry. He only earns $100,000 a week).
The case goes to court and the judge rules against you. You are ordered to pay $10,000,000. That shouldn’t be too difficult to raise within 14 days, should it? You would be able to pay wouldn’t you?
You wouldn’t!
Then you are in severe difficulty. You are about to lose everything.
The judge pulls out his cheque book, writes for a moment then hands you a piece of paper with the instruction to go and pay what you owe.
Would you say “No thanks, I can raise the money”, or take it and gratefully pay your debt.
What next? Would you start looking for another red light to run since the judge is so good? I doubt it.
How would you feel about that judge?
What would you be willing to do for that judge?
