Sundry objections
Romans 14:5 Context is v.1 “disputes over doubtful things
v.2, 6 speak of food suggesting that this passage is talking of fast days which some thought important, others not, but it didn’t matter.
Paul in another place upheld the commandments of God while saying circumcision was not important. 1 Corinthians 7:19.
Galatians 4:10 “Observe days and months and seasons
i. It doesn’t specify the Sabbath.
ii. Listing with months and seasons suggests something ceremonial, or maybe fast days
Whatever it was, their attitude was wrong – they though doing led to salvation
Colossians 2:14-16 What was nailed to the cross?
The word translated “handwriting” can mean a signed statement of acknowledged guilt. i.e. our sins were nailed up.
v. 8 = context -beware of deception following man’s tradition, not Christ.
Men’s tradition does not save, Jesus does.
v. 16 Is there anything wrong with eating and drinking? No, but they can be misused.
Likewise there is nothing wrong with the Sabbath
But it can be misused by being made a means of salvation
None of these give support to the observance of Sunday
